Movers and Shakers

Afiiliates are the unsung movers and shakers of the internet marketing space. A friend of mine who got involved in the affiliate space to increase his income and eventually become his own boss did so, and decided to buy a nice parcel of land in ‘the country’ and is in the process of moving to Virginia. Mving is such a pain.  I moved a few months ago to my new home.  If you ever caught in the process, here  are some tips to keep in mind to avoid a painful and expensive ordeal:

1st - with two or three months in advance, research various moving/freight companies. Some may allow you to comfortably store your belongings several days, as required. Compare prices and choose the one that suits you. Check the fine-print and make sure your contract has the right info such as dates, amount of stuff, etc.

Two. Make an inventory of everything you have, so you can make a claim if something goes missing. You might consider not writing the contents on the outside of the boxes, as you expose them to theft. List each box and give it a name you do not say what they contain.

Three. Take pictures of the furniture.  If something is damaged, you have proof.

Four.  Do not send valuables. Take them with you!

Five. When packing, tape the bottom of the boxes in the form of a cross.

Six. Defrost and empty your refrigerator at least 24 hours before the move, so that will it won’t drip on the road.

Seven. To not lose your keys and / or screws for furniture and drawers. Stick them with tape and label them for identification. Take them with you!

Eight. Write fragile on boxes containing delicate things and label how the box should be positioned. Use bubble wrap and newspaper on the bottom and between objects.

Nine. Heavy objects should be placed in small boxes, otherwise it will be difficult to load. And don’t pack flammable objects.

Plan well and avoid unnecessary headaches.

Clean Home

I bought my house 7 months ago. We’ve changed some things. Many homeowners buy a new home and think there will continue to look over time. With care, this may be true, but carpet cleaning must take place if the owner really wants to preserve the look of the house. If you have never had carpet before, you know that it can quickly become stained and unsightly. This does not mean you have to tear the carpet out and start over, but simply means that you should consult your carpet cleaning options.

Removing carpet stain not only makes the home look better, you also smell better. If you have pets, you should consider carpet cleaning at least once a year. Since pets usually spend the majority of their time on the floor, even the cleanest home will retain pet odors. Carpets are porous and easily absorb liquids and smells, and if you do not have your carpet cleaned from time to time, the odors become more pronounced.

In addition to making the home look better and removing smells from the carpet, residential carpet cleaner austin can also help remove unwanted guests in your home. Mites and fleas often live in the carpet and carpet padding. Steam cleaning can help remove these pests by pulling them into the recovery tank or at least, will be killed by the cleaning solution in the carpet steam cleaning. For all these reasons, most consider carpet cleaning a must.

Buy Now Pay Later

‘Buy now pay later! It’s the American way.  Purchase all you need on credit, and hopefully you can pay the debt back later, right? Most of us use this method, especially in Affiliate Marketing.  Our marketing dollars are paid via a credit card, and we hope, with good campaigns running, that we can pay Google back from all those click we generate via Adwords.  But if credit cards are so intrinsic in our lives, it behooves us then to make sure we have the best ones.  How so?

Choosing a credit card isn’t easy, you need to read carefully what advantages one has over the other, and we aren’t just talking about money-back perks. When evaluating multiple credit card offers, consider the following before completing an application: Interest rate; Rewards Programs; Annual Fees - Member Benefits. Let’s look at these one at a time

  1. Interest rate  - if you pay the full balance every month, having a low interest rate will probably not matter too much. However, it’s been said that about 45% of cardholders have an outstanding balance and pay monthly interest. If that holds true for you,  low rate credit cards could save you money a ton of money
  2. Rewards programs are something most issuers provide.  You use the card, you get a little money back. If you travel frequently, using this type of card may provide you with free plane tickets every year. Bear in mind however that you must accumulate a significant amount of points before earning such rewards, and points may expire, so this type Card does not prove beneficial if you don’t use the card often
  3. Annual fee – normally the special rewards cards get you have a cost: an annual fees. You need to evaluate whether the benefits outweigh the costs. For example, if the card is not used enough to accumulate any rewards, will the annual fee be worth it? Many credit cards don’t annual fees
  4. Member Benefits – These vary from card to card. Some offer travel assistance. Others offer roadside assistance. Such benefits can be useful if it suits your lifestyle. Evaluate the pros and cons of these benefits. For example, if you don’t travel frequently, it won’t help you to have a travel benefits card.   Try to get the same benefits elsewhere at a cheaper price. For instance, if you are a member of AAA, the advantage of having roadside assistance through that new credit card does not make it a compelling reason to sign up for it, does it?

These are the steps I use when evaluating credit card offers. The next time you apply for a credit card, consider these steps and select the card that best suits not just your credit rating but also your lifestyle.

If you are new to this blog, welcome! You probably are interested in earning a recurring revenue stream by becoming an affiliate.  But to sell products online, you don’t need to own a unique product, it’s perfectly fine to sell others peoples offerings, in fact, thats what becoming an affiliate means – you promote other people’s products.

There are a ton of affiliate companies and networks you can join.  An oldie is Amazon.com.  They sell everything from address plaques to anything else under the sun.  In fact, they are probably the largest bookstore in the webosphere, where you can buy almost any book that you can’t find at a local brick & mortar bookstore. Their affiliate program is quite simple and represents what most are like: just refer people to their site through your affiliate link.  The visitors that came through you and buy earn you a percentage of the sale – your commission. This program is typically called a CPA deal (Cost Per Acquisition). Why do use  I use Amazon.com as an example? Because they were among the pioneers in the affiliate space. Things have changed since the new days, especially where taxes is confirmed (more on that in a future post). Today, most affiliate programs use the low-rish CPAa model, giving you the ability to promote their products and services in exchange for financial compensation. That is, you get a piece of the sale every time someone buys through you.

Other models to explore are pay per click, meaning someone  pays you for each click to the website you generate and CPL (cost per lead), which means you send peoples contact info to a company, such as insurance or attorneys. In order be be successful in any of these models, relevant and targeted traffic is a must.  Just because someone sees a link doesn’t mean they will click and buy.  They need to have a reason to do so.  And when they have THAT reason, they usually convert.

So start doing your homework on affiliate programs.  See what peaks your interests, and start testing.  You may be surprised as to how exciting and lucrative the Affiliate space really  is.

Movie Backups

in Backups

I LOVE movies and I have an extensive collection.  And you know what? We talk a lot around here about backing up your hard drive’s data, ensuring you have reliable and secure web hosting, but what about protecting those DVD’s of movies you enjoy so much and spent so much money on? Or how about ensuring your home made movies will weather the test of time? It’s always a good idea to have copies of your movies in case the DVD is scratched, broken or lost. How is this done? Ripping.

Ripping is the process of extracting/copying audio or video data of a multimedia device (like a DVD, HD-DVD or CD) to your hard drive. While the original source is typically digital, technically a”rip” includes the extraction of analog media such as from a VHS video or vinyl too. To save the extracted info, the copied information is usually encoded in a compressed format like MP3, WMA, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, Xvid, etc. The term has been adopted to also include the extraction/duplication of audio, although this use of the term is less common.

A versatile program for ripping DVDs is ImTOO. ImTOO DVD Ripper is a powerful DVD ripping software that can rip and convert DVD movies to almost all video and audio formats such as the ones mentioned above quickly and in awesome quality. Oh, and don’t think the software is just to duplicate movies into another DVD. The cool thing is you can backup your movies and then enjoy them on multimedia players such as iPod, iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, PSP, PS3, BlackBerry, iRiver PMP, Windows Mobile phone, Xbox and mobile phones!

ImTOO DVD Ripper also features video or audio-editing options prior to ripping.  This means you can cut certain clips, merge several clips into one with transitional effects, crop selected scenes, and even add subtitle, new soundtracks and watermarks. Last but not least, it’s FREE to try. So why not start backing up your DVD’s now?

I Want an iPad

by on September 12, 2011
in Toys

Yes, you read it right. I want one. Why do I want one? Because it’s  cool and functional: I can blog from it, work on my sites, and therefore make money on it.  The iPad 2 came out a few months ago.  Unless you live under a rock, you know that this 2nd generation iteration of this awesome device can browse the web, check and send email, view and share photos, watch videos, listen to music, play games, read ebooks and more. iPad 2 supports most of the more than 350,000 apps available on the App Store in 20 categories including games, business and economics, news, sports, health and fitness, reference and travel.

“iPad, which has sold 15 million units, defined an entirely new category of mobile devices, “said Steve Jobs, former Apple CEO. iPad 2 incorporates IOS 4.3, one of the worlds most advanced mobile operating systems, with new features such as faster mobile browsing with Safari, Home Sharing, AirPlay improvements and mobile hotspot sharing. Additionally, the iPad 2 includes a gyroscope for advanced gaming and HDMI video mirroring, which allows you display screen content on a HDTV, in this case, my Samsung LED TV.

So how do I get one? Well I can go to Apple and get one for a $500, or I can get one for cheap via an auction. All penny auctions such as dealfun.com auctions start at 0.01 (one cent) and are all brand new products. Each bid will increase the price by 0.01. Each bid will add 15 seconds to the auction timer. If the auction timer reaches 00:00:00 and no new bids are placed the person who placed the last bid wins the auction and can purchase the product at the final auction price. Which can be up to 95% off retail price!

Woohoo! Wish me the best!!

Affiliate Marketing Basics

by on September 8, 2011
in Super Affiliate Training

New here? Then welcome!!! If you’re planning on starting out as an  affiliate marketer, let me briefly go over the basics.

One of the things you have to consider is having your own website, a professional landing page. How do you build an effective site? First, decide on the theme of your site. It would be better if you already have an idea of what products or services you are promoting, as this will help you plan the design and layout of your  pages. If you are promoting timepieces, such as the Aquaswiss watch (one of my personal faves) then your site should revolve around watches.

Next choose a domain name. The domain name is your website’s internet address, so pick one that is relevant to your niche and is easy to remember. If your name has relevant keywords in it, all the better.  Then make sure your name isn’t taken and register it.  I use Godaddy.com as my registrar of choice. This is more of a personal thing, but try to get a .com address instead of an .info or .biz, etc.

Then, select your webhost provider.  In selecting your web host, consider the security of servers and up time guarantees.  Now you can start creating your webpages.  Do not be discouraged if you know little in this field. There are wordpress templates out there you can use that are cheap and easy to update. Then start building traffic.  There are many ways to to this: you can use PPC, SEO, but the easiest one you SHOULD always use, even if you use the former, is good content . This is precisely the reason why visitors choose to enter into your site. What they want is information and when they do not find that information, they will go elsewhere. Therefore it is necessary to publish interesting content  related to the subject as it will cause frequent visits and re-visits to your site.  If you do not have the time or ideas to create contents, you can use PLR articles as the basis your content. Remember,  if there is no good content, there are no good visitors (people with a buying intent), which means no sales and ultimately, no commissions.

I wish you continued success in your affiliate endeavors. Feel free to  have a look around for more info and stay tuned for more affiliate tips…

Got Your Groupon?

by on September 8, 2011
in business threats

Well Groupon doesn’t.

The online discount shopping company canceled their investor roadshow that would lead to their initial public offering. The reason for the cancellation  is stock market volatility, the Wall Street Journal said on Tuesday.

The company is not canceling its long awaited IPO, but rather rethinking the ideal time for it, the paper said, quoting an unidentified source.

Groupon is under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission because of a leaked memo discussing the company’s financial status during the IPO “quiet period”.

Analysts suggest Groupon’s IPO plans are stalled because it’s bleeding cash with their international expansion and marketing efforts and slowing growth in North America.

eCigs – Your New Niche?

by on September 6, 2011
in Niche Marketing

The electronic cigarette or e-cigarette has taken the smoking industry by storm.  It’s a mechanical device that that simulates the smoke generated by smoking a real cigarette without the chemicals. There are several multinational manufacturers of electronic cigarettes. The market was opened to them in the United States after the enactment of the smoking ban.

The e cigarette looks like a real cigarette. Smoking is often purchased as part of a kit. The kit includes rechargeable batteries, battery charger, the packs of “cigarettes” and cartridges. You must charge the battery nightly and replace the cartridge packages when necessary.

The e-cigarette works when air flows through the cylinder. This turns a processor that injects liquid droplets. This results in a nicotine vapor mist which is inhaled by the user. Propylene glycol is added to make the fog of smoke look real. Many models of this type are also light up on the end to mimic a real cigarette.

One of the biggest advantages that the electric cigarette offers is that there is no presence of tabaco, carbon monoxide, tar or other cancer-causing chemicals found in cigarettes. Another advantage is that they usually are allowed to use under the smoking ban since they are almost odorless and produce no secondhand smoke.

So could this be another niche for you to consider?
